NOTES

Once the sun comes out, please ensure that your child has sunscreen applied at home before coming to school.  Due to SAFEGUARDING issues the teachers are not permitted to apply sunscreen.  Children also need a sunhat at school.  If possible, could your child not wear Crocs or flip-flops? We have so many trips and falls with these particular fashion items!

PARENTS’ EVENING this term is for 1:1 meetings with your child’s key teacher.  Please book your ten minute slot with your team leader after half term.

IF YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS/EMERGENCY CONTACTS CHANGE, please let the Team Leader know straight away.  This includes ALLERGIES/FOOD INTOLERANCES/HEALTH ISSUES etc.

Please don’t leave any scooters in the Church or Lower Hall lobbies. Scooters can only be left in the Vestry back garden.

Over the coming weeks, the Child Profiles will start coming home.  We hope you enjoy them!  Please bring them back when the teachers ask you to!

PUNCTUALITY: Please make sure that your child is dropped off and collected on time.
MORNING SESSION DROP OFF TIMES: 9:00am – 9:15am.
MORNING SESSION COLLECTION TIMES: 12:15pm – 12:20pm
LUNCH BUNCH (first collection):  1:30pm
LUNCH BUNCH (post clubs collection): 2:00pm
LUNCH BUNCH (end of session): 3:00pm

LATE ARRIVALS/DEPARTURES: If you are late dropping off in the mornings or picking up at home time, please make sure you sign the book.  We have to record these details for SAFEGUARDING purposes and it is a legal requirement.

There are still spaces available in some of the clubs.  Please contact Miss Green for details.

EARLY BIRD SESSIONS are available from 8:00am or 8:30am.  Please email/call both Miss Green and the team leader to book – last minute is fine for the 8:30am slot but 8:00am must be booked in advance.  The prices are £10.00 and £5.00.

Literacy ‘homework’.  This term the classes will be doing the following:

Lower Hall:  Rhyme of the Week

Vestry:  Sound of the Week

Puffins: Capital Letters

PHONICS

As you know, we teach phonics at The Jordans and it is very helpful if you use the phonic sounds rather than the letter names.
Please find examples of the phonic sounds below:

 “a” as in “apple”
“b” as in “bun”
“c” as in “cat”
“d” as in “dad”
“e” as in “egg”
“f” as in “fun”
“g” as in “goat”
“h” as in “happy”
“i” as in “igloo”
“j” as in “jet”
“k” as in “king”
“l” as in “lamp”
“m” as in “mum”
“n” as in “nut”
“o” as in “orange”
“p” as in “pot”
“q” as in “queen”
“r” as in “run”
“s” as in “snake”
“t” as in “top”
“u” as in “up”
“v” as in “van”
“w” as in “watch”
“x” as in “fox”
“y” as in “yacht”
“z” as in “buzz”

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT IF YOU ARE HELPING YOUR CHILD WRITE HIS/HER NAME; ONLY USE A CAPITAL LETTER FOR THE FIRST LETTER.
Even if it is easier to write a name using capitals, it is very difficult for your child to relearn the correct formation when they go to ‘Big School’!
THANKS!!
