The Sessions and the School Day

logo The Jordans is registered with Ofsted to provide care for children from when they are two years old. Once your child is registered with us their details are added to the waiting list and offers are made on a rolling basis. We have a sibling priority policy.

The Afternoon Sessions

Children join the nursery in our afternoon class. The focus is on settling them in and ensuring that their first experience is positive, safe and fun. There is a high ratio of staff to children and the groups are small. This is one of the key advantages of your child starting their time with us in the afternoon sessions as it ensures that they are given the attention and care that they need at this crucial time. This is also a significant time for parents and carers as it may be the first time that you have left your child in a new environment. It is important that you meet the team and familiarise yourself with the routines and procedures in the weeks and days leading up to their first day.

The afternoon session runs from 1:30pm – 4:00pm and your child can attend three, four or five sessions. Once you have received your offer letter, Sara will guide you through the options and discuss any specific requirements that you may have.

The Morning Sessions

Children join the morning class after their third birthday. NB: This is dependent on a space being available in the morning class. Most children tend to spend two to three terms in the afternoon class and a year in the morning class before moving onto primary school. The children continue to explore our rich and stimulating learning environment under the guidance of their key teacher.

The morning session runs from 9:00am – 12:15pm and children are expected to attend all five days.

The Sibling Class

For younger siblings of children that have attended The Jordans there is the option of a morning place rather than starting in the afternoon class. The emphasis is on the children settling in and the ratios and activities are age appropriate. The groups, however, are bigger than those in the afternoon session. The sessions run from 9:00am – 12:15pm.

Occasionally there may be a space in the morning class for a child that has not had an older sibling at The Jordans. These places are offered from the waiting list in order of registration. In such instances it is important to consider the differences between the morning and afternoon sessions.
